Paraklesis to the Most Holy Theotokos
Saturday, August 7th, 2021
7th Sunday of Matthew
Orthros (Matins), 9AM
Divine Liturgy, 10AM
2nd Antiphon
Save us, O Son of God, who were transfigured on Mt. Tabor. We sing to You, Alleluia.
Apolytikion – TransfigurationYou were transfigured upon the mountain, O Christ our God, showing to Your disciples Your glory as much as they could bear. Do also in us, sinners though we may be, shine Your everlasting light, by the intercessions of the Theotokos, O Giver of light. Glory to You.
Resurrectional Apolytikion When the angelic powers appeared at Your grave, the soldiers guarding it feared and became as dead. And standing by the sepulcher was Mary who was seeking Your immaculate body. You devastated Hades, not afflicted by it. You went to meet the virgin, and granted eternal life. You resurrected from the dead. O Lord, glory to You.
Apolytikion of the Parish Church
As a disciple of the Lord, O righteous one, you have received the Gospel. As a martyr, you are never turned away, as a brother of God you have boldness, as a hierarch you can intercede. Do you intercede to Christ our God to save our souls.
Kontakion
Upon the mountain were You transfigured, and Your disciples beheld Your glory as far as they were able, O Christ our God; so that when they would see You crucified they might understand that Your Passion was deliberate, and declare to the world that in truth You are the Father’s radiance.
The Epistle Rom. 15:1-7
The GospelMatthew 9:27-35
Dear Parishioners,
This Friday (8/6) at 7PM we will be celebrating the Paraklesis to the Most Holy Theotokos. A Paraklesis service is a supplicatory service for the living dedicated to a particular Saint, and in this case the Theotokos. During the Dormition fast, the tradition of our Church is the Paraklesis to the Theotokos is chanted during this time.
Saturday we will celebrate the Orthros and Divine Liturgy at 9AM and 10AM, respectively.
We welcome all to join us in person or through our live stream on Facebook as we give honor to our Most Holy Theotokos and praise to the Holy, Consubstantial, and Life-Giving Trinity.
August 14th it is planned that we will be having a Parish Council meeting.
